Team Semper Fi is a sports program that supports marines, sailors and soldiers injured in combat and training. Team Semper Fi provides coaches, specialized sporting equipment, entry fees and travel expenses for the wounded team members.
Newton Running has been a proud sponsor of Team Semper Fi for over a year now, working with the athletes to provide custom shoes for injured soldiers. Check out this inspirational note that just showed up in our inbox:
Two weeks ago, I finished the Marine Corps Marathon alongside three members of Team Semper Fi. They were each wearing Newton shoes. 4 shoes among the 3 men. The reason is that two of the Marines were wearing Cheetah Prosthetics on one leg each. I decided I would look up Newton and if you support Team Semper Fi, I would in turn throw my running shoe money your way. I have to commend you for your support of those men. You should have seen them crossing the finish line with 5,000 screaming spectators. It was awesome. You should’ve seen the way they cheered each other and indeed the other runners along the entire course. It was one of the greatest athletic events I’ve ever been a part of.
Your shoes are priced a little high for my budget. But your support of Team Semper Fi makes it worth the extra money. I’m not the slightest bit disappointed in my current brand (Saucony). But your support of such great charities makes me want to support you more than other companies.
I look forward to trying out a new pair of Newtons really soon. And I look forward to supporting Team Semper Fi just like you do for the forseeable future. I served for 8 years in the Corps and now I like to think if I can continue to help the Marines who gave of their blood to this country, I can continue to earn and keep the title “Marine”.
