Good Form Always Wins

Malcolm Balk, a Canadian running coach and author of “Master the Art of Running” just sent us this photo and message: ‘Here's a photo from the Tri-O-Lacs 10k where I managed to out kick the gentleman to my right. (finishing time 36:56).’ We like this shot because it’s a great visual example of average running form vs. good running form.

  1. What a GREAT shot! Malcolm, you managed to show just about EVERYTHING that’s right with Newtons and perfect running form in that one picture — while showing what’s wrong with average (or below?) form with the guy on your right.
I’m going to visualize this picture every time I feel my form slipping!

  2. I’m a longtime admirer of Balk. His thoughtful methods and musings both surpass and predate those of the Poseurs and ChiRunners.

Help me out here. What in that photo shows “good running form”?
