Great point! Gym classes across the country teach the basics of football, baseball, gymnastics, swimming and much more, but the dreaded mile run is probably everyone's least favorite day. If we could teach kids how to run without hurting themselves maybe they would enjoy it more.

Awesome job guys. Its about time! Hopefully XC and track coaches will embrace this as well. For years XC and track coaches have trained religiously on volume and never one practice focused on form, as a result, countless HS athletes experience overuse injuries.

Generally speaking, stress fractures are largely related to the "Rule of too's": Too much. Too fast. Too soon. If you get into a more natural running shoe such as Newtons that actually allow you to feel the ground, couple that with focusing on technique and transitioning SLOWLY, you should be good to go.

The shoes certainly help with allowing for the right technique but it's the right technique that will really help. Try watching this video from us: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cT8bmASugs

I have been looking for years for a good shoe to combat my shin splints. Would a flat running shoe realy help?

I am SO confused as to whether these shoes are right for me. I haven't tried them yet, but am very curious. I've recently recovered from my fourth stress fracture (2nd metatarsal) and feel like I should be changing shoes, but am afraid to go to a minimalist shoe because of the sfx.

Hi there
I am one of those people who have taken up running for fitness by lacing up my old pair of runners and taking off. I had great success in my body responding to my motivation to get fit until I got shin splints. I embarked on some research to determine the cause as I do not want any injury to interrupt my motivation again. Advice from my physiotherapist and chiropractor have led me to your website. I have one question at this point in my research on the topic.......is it possible to maintain good running form on a treadmill?? Are there properties of a treadmill that make natural running form more difficult? Any suggestions you can make for treadmill running would be invaluable.
