Ditched the G/F, my Newton’s were my Valentine!

Friday, February 19th, 2010

i_love_newton_heart_custom_personalized_tshirt-p235423821808214971t50h_210Ripped from the Runner’s World forums here.

“Can someone please help confirm or deny that I have serious issues with running shoes? I went on my first long(er) run in my Newton’s. Previously I had not taken them more than about 4 miles. Well, early V-Day morning I went out for about 6 miles in them and just fell in love all over again. I was swooning with every perfect footstrike… Later that night, while at dinner with my g/f, all I could think about was my Newton’s… sitting at home… alone. They had been so good to me that morning, and I abandoned them for my g/f, then I started to feel guilty. Not about day-dreaming about running shoes while on a date with the g/f, but guilty about leaving my shoes home alone on V-Day. The worst part is I didn’t even bring them any leftovers from dinner. Am I a criminal?”

Newton Running: A love story

Monday, November 16th, 2009

We stumbled upon this fun story of a budding (?) relationship from blogger Lola Runs, who is chronicling her adventures in the world of online dating on her blog. LolaRuns’s second date with ‘BoyGenius’ turns into a discussion of natural running form and Newton Running shoes. Will true love ensue?

LolaRuns goes on a second date with BoyGenius

One day after LolaRuns first date with BoyGenius, BoyGenius text LolaRuns to request a second date. A second date would be lovely LolaRuns responded.

Throughout the week, leading up to the date schedule for Friday, November 13, BoyGenius and LolaRuns text about BoyGenius’s running program and Newton running shoes. Please recall that LolaRuns hasn’t been running because of a pounding ache in her lower back when she attempts to run. When LolaRuns shared this information with BoyGenius during the first date, he immediately peppered her with questions and concluded that it was her running form that was producing the back problems.

Him: “What is your running style? How do you land? Are you a heel striker?”

Me: “I tend to lean back and strike with my heel.”

Him: “It’s your running form. You need Newton running shoes. They have a patented technology with exposed grooves that encoourages mid to forefront running. Let’s walk over to the Potomac Running store and I will show the shoes to you. You have to strike with your midfoot or forefoot if you want to run healthily.”

This is where cute BoyGenius even demonstrated the proper running form while walking on Market Street. LolaRuns was a bit smitten at that point.

The texts during the week followed the same vein with questions about LolaRuns workout – the stairclimber for an hour for the past two months – and the new Newton training shoes that would be available in the next month. BoyGenius also encouraged LolaRuns to check out the Newton web site and watch all the videos – which LolaRuns promptly and attentively reviewed. LolaRuns was sold on the Newtons – and quite possibly on BoyGenius.

Read the rest of LolaRuns’s post here. I don’t know about you, but I’m sure rooting for BoyGenius!

Newton gets all wet

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Yesterday, Newton’s queen of customer service, Tory Oakland, celebrated her birthday with a little whitewater rafting trip on Colorado’s Clear Creek. Of course, Tory wore her Newton Distance race shoes – I mean, the mesh upper drains water really quickly and the four actuator lugs on the outsole would provide terrific impact reduction from rocks in the river if you and the rest of the crew just happened to get tossed out of boat.

Way to assume the whitewater float position and show off those fancy river shoes Tory (click photo to enlarge). Happy Birthday!

I don’t know about you, but after this long vacation weekend, I’m ready for…another vacation. Yep, Kona sounds about right.

Newton Running and Athletes for a Cure have partnered up to give away a trip for two to watch the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii.

Check out this short video from Mr. Clean Scott Zagarino of Athletes for Cure to learn how you can win and support the fight against prostate cancer along the way.

Read the full rules of the contest on the Athletes for a Cure blog. We look forward to seeing your video entries. Good Luck!

The Running Man

Monday, June 29th, 2009

No, we’re not talking about the awesomely bad 1987 movie with the Ahhnold, nor are we talking about totally rad 80’s dance moves (click that link, trust me).  Instead, we want to introduce you to Jason Smith, the host of a new show entitled ‘The Running Man.’ The premise of the show is simple, Jason will visit a new city each week, exploring the destination’s sights, tastes and sounds while running.

This is a pilot episode that features Jason running through Manhattan Beach, CA. It’s really entertaining and I’m not saying that just because Jason loves Newton shoes and wears them prominently in the pilot. These guys are pitching the show to The Travel Channel – we wish them luck and hope to see it on TV soon!
