Newton Staffer Gets Wet on Colorado’s Clear Creek River

Yesterday, Newton’s queen of customer service, Tory Oakland, celebrated her birthday with a little whitewater rafting trip on Colorado’s Clear Creek. Of course, Tory wore her Newton Distance race shoes – I mean, the mesh upper drains water really quickly and the four actuator lugs on the outsole would provide terrific impact reduction from rocks in the river if you and the rest of the crew just happened to get tossed out of boat.

    Too funny! Happy Birthday, Tory!

Looks like Newton Actuator lugs improve buoyancy too! Is there anything they can’t do? Happy Birthday Tory!

  3. Tory says:

Thanks again, Sir Isaac, for digging up the incriminating photos to share with the Newton Running world… I will say, if you’re ever going to raft and want the ideal shoe, grab a retired pair of Newtons, as they performed like no other. The second whitewater incident farther down the river had me scaling out of the raft, which at the time was perpendicular to the water, and balancing on wet boulders in the middle of the rapid. Good traction even under water!

Thanks for the birthday wishes too – it was a fantastic weekend!

    Cheers!
    Tory
