Inc. Magazine Profile on Newton Running

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Inc. Magazine’s August issue has a huge profile story on Newton Running
and its founders Jerry Lee and Danny Abshire.

The writer, Robert Andrew Powell, digs deep into the story behind Newton and its business model for the future. Powell, an aspiring marathoner, gives the shoes a try for himself but struggles to adopt a forefoot running technique.

Give the story a read here and let us know what YOU think of Mr. Powell’s take on Newton.

Sole of an Olympian

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Check it out, I just got these shots from the product team at Newton….Sarah Haskins’ custom, special make-up shoe to wear at the Olympic Triathlon in Beijing.  It’s a Newton Distance in all-American red, white and blue colors.  Pretty sweet.

So, there are no plans to put this shoe into production….UNLESS, there is enough buzz and demand for it. Show your support and post a comment below.

Look for Newton at the Olympics

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Last month, 27-year-old Newton athlete, Sarah Haskins finished in second place at the Hy-Vee ITU Triathlon World Cup in Des Moines, Iowa, to earn the final spot on the 2008 U.S. Olympic team. It will be the first Olympics Games for both Sarah and Newton Running! We couldn’t be prouder!

I’m still looking for the TV schedule, but the womens’s triathlon in Beijing takes place on Monday, Aug. 18 at 10am local time. Leave a note in the comments section if you can find out when NBC is airing the coverage and I’ll post it here.

Go Sarah!

Pre 2?

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

This email, with photos attached, came in a couple months ago. Nice running form! (But would you expect anything else from a Prefontaine)

Hi Mr. Newton,

Thank you SO SO SO much for the newton shoes you gave me at the Arizona IronMan. They have worked very well. I use them at track, and my latest 5k. I feel like they made me so much faster, on my 5k I dropped a minute and a half because of the shoes.

Thank you again!
James Prefontaine

James won the AZ Ironman kids 5K race and received a pair of free Newtons. He certainly has good forefoot running technique!

A Pre sequel in the works? Think I’ll go home and cue up Without Limits on Netflix.

John Mayer Rocks in Newtons

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

I heard from a little birdy that sizzling hot musician John Mayer stopped into one of the Boston City Sports stores last week and bought himself a pair of Newtons. Apparently John’s a runner and loved the neon styling of the shoes.

I figure it’s only a matter of time before the paparazzi snaps a photo of him wearing Newtons.

I’ve got a free Newton hat and shirt for the first person who sends me a link to a photo of Mr. Mayer wearing his Newtons. Hopefully he’s just not wearing this outfit with them.

Tiffany G. Hi,

I just wanted to tell you how much I LOVE your shoes! I just received my second pair (bought the racers several months ago and now got the trainers), and they are just as fantastic as the first. They have helped my running immensely…I can run faster and further than ever before, and I feel like I’m on air! Now I am starting to convert all my running friends and people at my gym who all ask about my hot pink shoes. :)

Also, thank you for the extra goodies you’ve sent along with the shoes…love my socks and pink visor!

Again, thank you!!!

Elite Marathoner Josh Cox Signs with Newton Running

Newton Running is pleased to announce it has signed top-ranked U.S. marathon runner, writer and television personality Josh Cox to its team of professional athletes. Cox has a long list of marathon victories on his resume and is a regular contributor to Runner’s World and Fox Sports.

“Since launching last year, many of the world’s top triathletes have switched to Newton Running shoes, but they’re still new to the running world,” states Cox. “Since making the switch myself, I’m running stronger, faster and with less fatigue. I’m proud to join a new, independent company that is preaching proper running technique and combining it with state-of-the-art shoe technology.”
